Anishana” means “where do you come from?” in the native Algonquin language of the Northeast. “Where do you come from?” speaks to a multiplicity of origins in the band’s music: from Afro-Latin rhythms, to post-bop jazz harmonies, to jam band grooves, to Native American chants, and more. A many-voiced chorus of instruments carries the group’s sound: Hilary Noble doubles and triples on woodwinds and Afro-Latin percussion; Greg Snedeker plays keyboards, cello and sings; Steve Langone covers multiple percussion and Will Slater anchors with the acoustic bass. The ensemble echoes a plurality of voices and traditions as it works on constructing a truly global music. https://www.amazon.com/Corners-Sky-Anishana/dp/B07Z2RVXK6 https://www.allmusic.com/album/corners-of-the-sky-mw0003333824 |
